The modern country took the name, but that doesn’t make it sacred.

Today’s Israel is a political state with borders, a military, corruption, lobbying, propaganda, and war — not a holy remnant of God’s covenant.

Some of the earliest rabbinic texts, including parts of the Babylonian Talmud, contain passages that are deeply offensive to Christians — including statements that Jesus (referred to as “Yeshu”) is being punished in hell by being boiled in excrement, and that his mother was sexually promiscuous.
